Cyril was born in 1920 in Prestwich, Manchester to Polish born parents Morris, a tailor, and Jennie nee Glicher and he had three sisters, Cecily, Rita and Beryl.

Cyril studied at the Salford Royal Technical College for an engineering degree. ‘He was of an inventive turn of mind and contributed articles to engineering journals. One of his inventions was an anti-aircraft shell which was being considered by the authorities. He was a keen Zionist and a member of Vatike Habonim and the Higher Broughton Young Judeans.’ Jewish Chronicle Obituary.

Cyril was an observer on Beaufort AW242 which departed RAF Leuchars to journey to RAF Wick. The aircraft crashed on the Hill of Wirren, Scotland in poor visibility killing all on board.
