Louis was born on 20 October 1910 in Poland to Nachman Kolieditzki and Chana nee Lapin. He enlisted in the RAF in Rhodesia in June 1940 for reasons unknown. His records state that his mother at the time of his death was living in Jerusalem.

Louis was the wireless operator/air gunner on Wellington R1726 which departed RAF Marham at 11.26 on an operation to attack the German warship Gneisnau at Brest. The operation record book states: 6 aircraft from the squadron were detailed for a daylight attack on the GNEISNAU at BREST. Together with 3 aircraft from 115 Squadron, the aircraft left MARHAM in 3 sections of 3 and a very successful attack in formation was made. Intense anti-aircraft fire was encountered and several attacks were made by M.E.109’s. Most aircraft were hit but all returned safely with the exception of P/O. Jolly whose aircraft was not seen after the attack. Wellington R1726 crashed into the sea at Brest killing four crew and two crew becoming prisoners of war.
