He enlisted in the RAF in Rhodesia in June 1940 for reasons unknown. His records state that his mother at the time of his death was living in Jerusalem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please contact us if you have further information on the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Louis was the wireless operator\/air gunner on Wellington R1726 which departed RAF Marham at 11.26 on an operation to attack the German warship Gneisnau at Brest. The operation record book states: <em>6 aircraft from the squadron were detailed for a daylight attack on the GNEISNAU at BREST. Together with 3 aircraft from 115 Squadron, the aircraft left MARHAM in 3 sections of 3 and a very successful attack in formation was made. Intense anti-aircraft fire was encountered and several attacks were made by M.E.109\u2019s. Most aircraft were hit but all returned safely with the exception of P\/O.
