Joseph was born in 1924 in Stockport, Manchester to Hyman and Hettie n\u00e9e Kaufman. Joseph had four siblings, Dora, Solomon who died aged twenty nine in 1941, Beatrice, Sylvia and Sydney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 1939, the family were living at 43 Lea Road, Stockport and Joseph’s father Hyman was a fur commission agent and his mother Hettie worked as a master gown and mantle dealer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
