Maurice was born on 31 March 1920 in King’s Norton, Worcestershire to Joseph Rosenberg, a tailor, and Winifred n\u00e9e Tilley and he had two sisters Stella and Pauline and a brother Derek. The family changed their surname from Rosenberg to Rose before 1939. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maurice’s AJEX card states that he was training at No 2 Wing, Yatesbury followed by No 7 Bombing & Gunnery school in Porthcawl. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maurice was the wireless operator\/air gunner on Whitley P5082 which departed RAF Linton on Ouse on a night operation to Bremen. The aircraft went down in the North Sea 20 miles off Aberdeen after a successful raid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
