Maurice (Morry) was born in January 1923 in St George in the East, London to Jack and Leah n\u00e9e Solomons and was the youngest of three boys. Their mother Leah died in 1933 and Morry was raised by his aunt Rachel (Ray) Weiss and his letters to his aunt written while he was serving can be found in the gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maurice was the rear gunner on Lancaster ME802 which departed from RAF Tuddenham at 20.23 on 25 August 1944 on a night operation to Russelsheim to attack the Opel motor factory. The aircraft failed to return and the crew are buried in Durnbach War Cemetery, Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
