Samuel was born in 1919 in Steyning, Sussex to Lithuanian born Harry (Harris) and Frances Stella n\u00e9e Myers and had one sister Olive. In 1939, the family were living in Willesden where their father Harry was an electrical appliance salesman and both of their parents were volunteers in the ARP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Samuel married Juliet Hart in January 1943 in Willesden five months before he was killed. Juliet remarried in 1945 and had one son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Samuel was the navigator on Lancaster LM330 which departed RAF Dunholme Lodge on a night operation to Krefeld. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter off the Dutch coast and lost without trace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
