Szymon (Shimon) was born in 1920 in Poland. In 1937, aged seventeen he immigrated to Israel as a student and studied at the Hebrew University, and was active in the Rabbinical Student Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Szymon was a ‘local enlistment’ in the Middle East and he enlisted after July 1940.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was on board the ship SS Charles Henderson which was being unloaded at berth at Bari, Italy. The bombs on board exploded killing him and another 542 and injuring 1,800. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
