Louis was born on 26 February 1921 in St Giles, London to William (Woolf) and South African born Julia n\u00e9e Gershon and had two older siblings Ann and Geoffrey. Their mother’s parents Louis and Jessie were born in Poland and moved to South Africa where they were married in 1889 and Louis worked as a diamond merchant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Louis was the observer in Wellington HE500 which departed RAF Wing on a night operation to bomb an ammunition dump at St. Omer. The aircraft crashed at Rubrouck, 10 Km NW of Cassel killing all on board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
