His father Leopold served in the King\u00b4s Royal Rifle Corps in WW1 and worked as a diamond polisher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Benjamin enlisted into the RAF in May 1940. Four months before he was killed on 6 June 1942, Benjamin was an air gunner on Stirling W7508 which departed from RAF Lakenheath on a night operation to Essen.
