Murray was born in 1922 in Leeds to Norman and Leah n\u00e9e Freedman. In 1939, the family were living at 95 Gathorne Terrace, Leeds and Norman was working as a foreman in the tailoring trade on government work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Murray was the wireless operator on Wellington BK242 which departed from RAF Finningley on a day training exercise. The aircraft crashed attempting to overshoot killing all the crew:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
