Leslie was born on 28 December 1910 in Hackney, London to Sydney and Amelia n\u00e9e Silverman and he had two brothers Gerald and Leonard and their father Sydney ran a mantel and costume company. Leslie trained as a pharmaceutical chemist and ran a chemist in Southgate, London with his brother Gerald as the manager. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He married Renee Silverberg in 1936 in Hackney and their son Anthony was born the following year. In 1939 the family were living at 66 Grovelands Road, Southgate with Leslie’s father and brothers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leslie trained on Course No. 42, 19 OTU at RAF Kinloss. His course photo can be found below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leslie was the observer on Whitley Z6760 which departed from RAF Forres in Morayshire, Scotland on a cross country training exercise. The aircraft had climbed to about forty feet when the engine cut out. The aircraft banked to port before hitting a raised bank and burst into flames killing all onboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
