Myer (Mick) was born on 9 December 1921 in Whitechapel, London to Robert and Annie nee Freedman and he had an older brother Maurice who was also killed serving in WW2 in 207 Squadron. Savage, Maurice | The Jews of the RAF<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Research is ongoing to find more information on the family. In 1939 the brothers parents lived 33 Cresswell Road, Twickenham where Robert worked as a furniture upholsterer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mick was the navigator on Beaufighter JL833 alongside Pilot Leonard Perkins, 1208549. The aircraft departed from RAF North Coates at 10.25 on 5 April 1943 but failed to return. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The operations record book states: <\/p>\n\n\n\n 12.37 54\u00b0<\/strong>23″N. 30\u00b0<\/strong> 41″E. Splash seen in water, the A\/C wreckage including port wing, 3 petrol tanks, empty Mae West, but no dinghies or bodies,. ‘A’ & ‘X’ circled low for 20 minutes dropping smoke floats and taking photographs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

13.26 ‘X’ & ‘A’ S\/C base from 54\u00b0<\/strong>23″N. 03\u00b0<\/strong>41″E. Hampden remained circling.
14.26 ‘X’ & ‘A’ landed base – ‘O’ failed to return and is presumed to have crashed in sea at 12.37. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
